REMEMBER THE PARK SHOW?
Hello
Can anyone help with memories, or even facts!, about The Park Show. Hoping to include some information in an article for Past Forward.
Does anyone have a relative who worked on it? How long was it on? Was it free to enter? Was there a big celebrity opening? I remember the Heinz tent and the free tasters of tomato soup (or at least I think I remember that) and the marquees where the flower arranging etc were on show.
Any information gratefully received. Many thanks.

Hello Momac, I well remember the Park Show! I entered a single carnation in a flask from the biology lab and won a 'highly commended'! it was a great show with lots of categories for people to enter and the schools actively encouraged us to enter.

I used to love going to the Park Show during the last weekend of September, but I'm going back to the 60s. It started on a Friday night and ended Sunday night.
As has been said, there were marquees containing all sorts of interesting items on sale; there was always a display by the Army with at least one vehicle (probably not a tank as it would have chewed up the ground), but I can't remember what kind of vehicle; then there was the brass band playing in the bandstand; and finally, on the last night, the firework display.
I've often wondered why it stopped, but I suppose there must have been a reason for it, either financial, or perhaps vandalism.

I loved it wandering around all the tents, seeing all the displays. Oh to turn back time somehow.
